First of all, we get to announce the winner of our FINAL Feta Friday giveaway! The winner is The Stace who likes them on her fish tacos (and I can’t disagree with her there!) Congrats! Please email us asap at general (at) ourbestbites (dot) com so we can get your prize mailed out. So after all my whining in Monday’s post, I decided I needed to suck it up and find a way to enjoy what’s left of my summer. …

Raise your hand if it’s hotter than Hades where you live right now.  Oooh, me! Me!  (Although let it be known that it doesn’t take very high numbers on the thermometer to put this Seattle wimp girl out of her element.)  It’s been in the high 90’s here and that’s hot enough for me to hide out in my air-conditioned house and avoid even (gasp!) the bbq- which you all know is my go-to summer cooking method.  So it’s at …

So I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I hate July. Also, apparently July hates me because in the 9 years and 2 months that my husband and I have been married, we have not had a single July that wasn’t disastrous or at least moderately-to-really, really bad. This July hasn’t been like the hopefully-never-to-be-repeated July of 3 years ago, but in the last month, I’ve fallen down a hole and had an abscessed tooth (and any of you who know …

I have reached the point that I do every summer where I’ve decided I hate it here and where I’d pretty much sell my soul to live anywhere else. Don’t worry…this happens every summer. I remember being a kid when my dad would sprinkle …

I thank my husband for unknowingly inspiring the creation of this recipe. One day while he was at work he emailed me this link to a resort in Mexico. Suddenly I was whisked away in a day-dream, sitting on a beach with warm sand on my toes while sipping a Piña Colada. Before I knew it, the strawberry shortcakes I had planned for dessert that night morphed into this tropical version in my head. I love lime and coconut together, …

I had this idea in my head and I expected it to be good, but I didn’t realize how good until I took a bite.  It’s so good!  If you’ve never tried Naan, it’s a Indian style flat bread.  You can make your own, or do like I do and just buy it from the bakery section of a good grocery store.  You could of course just use regular pizza crust, or a pre-cooked one, or a pita, or other …

This is normally the part of the post where we throw in a funny story or charm you with our witty commentary, but I don’t have time for that tonight!  I’ve got a cranky baby and kids up way too late so we’re just gonna start cooking.  Okay?  Okay!    So I have a few quick and easy dinner ideas up  my sleeve because it seems like this time of year people like to avoid the oven.  This one just involves …
