We’re SO excited to introduce you all to our
National Bestseller!
“Savoring the Seasons with Our Best Bites”

Isn’t she a beauty??

This book has even more never-before-seen recipes than our last book, and they will stay exclusive to the book.  Here’s a teeeeny tiny sampling.  Seriously, there are SO many great recipes in this book.

Kate and I spent the last year up to our necks in dirty dishes as we created, tested, and fine-tuned some amazing recipes.  And we have a fantastic artistic team who worked on the layout and design of this book.  We love all of the little features and attention to detail that really make it a one-of-a-kind book.  Take the often-overlooked inside cover, for example.  Cuteness.

And like our last book, this one has a removable book mark that snaps right into any page in the book, and it’s got a conversion chart on it!

The book is spiral-bound, but with a hard back cover and the pages are glossy and splash resistant.  There is a photo (and sometimes multiple photos) for every single recipe.

Kate and I love cooking all year long, and one of our favorite things is the change of the seasons and the food that reflects that.  We love cooking with things that are fresh and in-season, and that’s the whole purpose of this book.  It’s separated by seasons:

So you’ll find creamy roasted butternut squash pasta and maple-glazed cookies in autumn, peppermint ice cream and garlic-rosemary prime rib in the winter, creamy asparagus soup and sweet roasted carrots in the spring, and creamy ice pops and grilled meats in the summer.  Sprinkled throughout the book are mini-tutorials on crafts, holiday activities, and foodie gifts, and there’s even a whole section of cupcakes and frostings!

You can find our book at many book stores, but here are some of the major ones:

Walmart and Walmart.com (Every Walmart in the US should have our book in stock, with the exception of the “neighborhood market” stores that don’t carry books at all.)

Barnes and Noble

Sam’s Clubs and Costco stores:  Selected Stores, over 150 across the US

Deseret Book Stores and Deseret Book.com

I don’t typically buy cookbooks because I mostly set them on a shelf and they collect dust while I search the internet for the perfet recipe…BUT, since A.) you were all sneaky (ok…business savvy) and put recipes in there that I can’t get on your website (which, let’s be honest, is usually where I end up in my internet searches anyway) and B.) those photos of the recipes made me want to lick my computer screen….I’m all signed up for my pre-order.

  6. 6

  71. 71
    Katie S says:

I was going to wait until Christmas to ask for your cookbook but it’s coming out so early, there’s no way I can miss all the yummy fall/winter foods for this fall, so I ordered it! Told my husband that this way, I can preview it before we give it as a gift to my mother in law and all my sisters in law. 🙂 You girls do absolutely wonderful work, and nearly every recipe I’ve tried from your last cookbook has become a regular around here. I cannot WAIT to get this cookbook in the mail!!!

  72. 72
    Katie S says:

PS, I’m sure a zillion people give their opinion on this either way, but I think it’s funny that some people get so concerned with recipes that are exclusive to the book. I don’t mind either way. In fact, sometimes it’s nice when the recipe has appeared on the blog before – makes it easy to look up questions I have, or troubleshooting, or send the recipe to a friend or relative. Just my 2 cents that I don’t mind if the recipes in the book have been on the blog or not – why would people care, as long as the food is delicious?! 🙂

  73. 73

There are many good recipes but for summer desert the strawberry cheesecake ice cream is being so diferent and good for my family to have after a good Sunday dinner. Thanks for your recipes.

    Amy says:

You mentioned favorite holiday traditions elsewhere
My family has Germanic roots and we love
To celebrate St Nicholas Day. We hang our
Christmas stockings on the eve of the Feast
Of Saint Nicholas (Dec 6) and the next morning
Find they’ve been filled with small gifts.
Always an orange in the toe, some nuts and
Sweets in there too. Memorable year when
A lump of coal was in a stocking with everything
Else. Joke was on my dad when my kid brother used it
Like a crayon on the walls. Never found
    Coal again.

It’s rare to run into other people who celebrate
This holiday but when we do? So much
Excitement in sharing stories and comparing
Traditions. It’s like having a little Christmas a
    Little early.

  80. 80
    Jennifer G says:

My favorite holiday tradition is that I try to make all the holidays special…even the small ones. I try to do a special food (breakfast, snack)for each holiday. I think it makes if fun for my little ones to see what I’ve made to make the day special. 🙂

My favorite holiday tradition was when my papa was still alive and every Christmas we would celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve at Nanna & Papa’s house with take out chinese food from the same place every year and open presents. It hasn’t been the same since he has been gone but I remember every year like it was yesterday!

My husband and I started this tradition right after we got married, and have continued since we had our son. The whole adventure is absolutely magical! Last year it actually snowed when we were there! (We live in SC, so we don’t often get snow that early in the season.)

My favorite Christmas Holiday tradtion is with all of my side of our extended family. We have a party(of course) but the cousins all draw names at Thanksgiving and then at the Christmas party we decorate a chair and call it the “Chair of Cheer” (from the move Grinch with Jim Carrey). We exchange gifts person by person. The person receiving the gift gets to sit on the chair and the person giving the gift comes up and gives the recipient a VERY BIG HUG and their gift. We all chant Hug Hug Hug until hug is given. The name drawing is kept secret from Thanksgiving until sitting on the “Chair of Cheer” May sound corney, but we absolutely love it. The littlest ones love it the most! So much excitement on their faces. We have all found that the HUG makes the best gift ever! 🙂

One of our Christmas holiday traditions is to have a “Special Dinner”. It is referred to as “The Special Dinner” by all of the kids. It was started years ago when our children were small. We get out the best dishes and goblets for sparkling cider and use two forks and have at least three courses. We have English Crackers at each place setting and wear our paper crowns found in the crackers and read the jokes through dinner. It was a great way to teach table manners and start a tradition of our own and impress upon our children the importance of the season celebrating the birth of our Savior. Love the Holidays!!!!!

I cannot wait for this new book, so I can add even more of your recipes into my family dinners. The Halloween recipes are sure to come in handy, since my Halloween meals are limited right now. My favorite holiday tradition is one I have started with my little man for Halloween. We set out a big bucket of candy for the trick-or-treaters and keep a small bucket of our own candy to eat while we snuggle up under a blanket and watch the Nightmare Before Christmas. We always have a second bucket for popcorn too and we love to sing along with the movie songs.

Ooooooh! I Want this cook book so bad!!!
I have a bunch of different traditions for all the holidays, but my favorite I think is our Easter Egg Tradition. Before we color our eggs we take the wax crayon and write a scripture verse on it; just the book name and numbers. I let the kids put their favorite ones on it and then we try to write ones we don’t know. Then after they find their eggs we sit down with our Bible and look up all the versus. Some are really funny and some are amazing. It is a great way to bring God into Easter egg world.

    Lois says:

A favorite holiday tradition is a ‘special friends’ drawing among our family members. Each Thanksgiving Day we pass around a hat with our names written on piece of paper. Whoever we draw becomes our ‘special friend’, and we secretly do acts of kindness for that person until Christmas Eve when we reveal our special friend’s identity and present them with small gift. This has been a favorite with our kids for years and the tradition continues even though they are all young adults now. The simple acts of kindness (chore completed, special snack on a nightstand, etc.) are often done for someone other than the special friend to keep others off the trail.

The family tradition my children vote for is the treasure hunt we do on Valentine’s Day. Each of my children get their own booklet with riddles they have to solve (describing the location in which they will find their gifts). The riddles have increased in difficulty as they have gotten older. They are young teenagers now, & still want to do this. I can’t wait to see your new cookbook and I enjoy your justifiable pride! Thank you.

My Favorite Holiday tradition is our Family Fondue Party! We all get together sometime between Thanksgiving and New Years Eve and have one night of Fondue madness. Each year we try more sauces and find new things to dip. It’s so much fun and it’s something that the adults and kids both look forward too! It’s the only meal out of the entire year that I allow my kids to dip their veggies in chocolate!

    Kristen says:

Oh my gosh, our family does the fondue party too! It’s become our Christmas/New Years tradition. It was kind of a joke that everyone who had gotten married received fondue pots and no one ever used them, so we all thought the best time to use them was together. Each family brings a different type of fondue and food to go with it. I look forward to it every year!

Excited about your new book. My favorite holiday is Christmas. A tradition is to hide a Pickle shaped ornament. We use one that is about 1 1/2 ” long. The person that finds it gets the last gift remaining under the tree. German tradition. My children/grandchildren range from44 to 2 years old. When searching you would think that they are all little kids. Such a joy!

    Julie Depue says:

One of my favorite holiday memories is of my sister and I spending a whole weekend making Christmas cookies together. We send family away, we plan our cookie choices weeks in advance. somewhere between 15 and 20 different kinds of cookies and candies. We shop and gather all of the supplies. Let me tell you thats a lot of sugar. And on the friday night we will try to get most of the dough that needs to chill in the fridge before going to bed. The next morning, bright and early we start. There is laughter and crying and a lot of “Do you remember when?” Unfortunately I have moved across the country and I now have to do it by ourselves and over the phone. but I LOVED it

    Julianne says:

We live away from our relatives so holiday gatherings are typically limited to ‘just us’ – my husband and four children. I struggled with how to make a holiday meal more special since we eat meals together as a family every night. It soon became apparent that serving appetizers in the livingroom was such a highlight of the holidays that that in itself has become THE tradition that my kids look forward to. Yeah, it’s the little things…

  192. 192
    Sarah Y. says:

Traditions almost always are food related at our house…strawberry blintzes Christmas morning, chicken bisque soup New Years Eve, monkey bread/pull-a-parts New Years morning, fancy dinner for the kids on Valentines, etc. We are always looking for new and memorable recipes for other occasions and OBB never fails to be the cookbook my kids go to for inspiration (we seem to celebrate with buttermilk syrup on Sundays). So a cookbook separated into seasons seems to be the perfect way to build new traditions. Can’t wait to get my hands on one!!!

As our family grows, it gets harder each year for all of us to get-together; however, Christmas Eve is a special time for family/friends to gather and sing Christmas Carols, and enjoy Vegetable Beef Soup and/or Chili, vegetables/chips and with homemade dips, and rolls. Each family brings a dessert. Then we attend a Christmas Eve Service. I look forward to your new cookbook, and enjoy your site!

Your recipes always make my daughter and I so hungry – and often times we run out and get the ingredients to whatever recipe you’ve posted (if we don’t have them on hand, that is). This cookbook looks wonderful as was your other one – would love to have it!

By the way, Amy, (post #79), we celebrate St. Nicholas in our house, too; my children are grown now, but they still want to have that special treat come December 7th morning! Some traditions are best not to outgrow! 🙂
