Kate’s Workout Playlist

We get asked a lot about what’s on our workout playlists. It’s sometimes weird sharing what music we listen to because music is so personal, especially when it comes to the stuff that makes us want to move. But Sara and I have been blogging for almost seven years now, so we’re kind of had to get comfortable with sharing the uncomfortable, right?

This isn’t every song on my exercise playlist–I have about 100 songs on my workout playlist, then, if I’m not feeling a particular song during a particular workout, I can just skip it. That way, I don’t get bored listening to the same songs over and over again. But today, I picked 20 of my current, consistently favorite workout songs (so a little over an hour–perfect, right?!). Some of them are newer, some of them are not (hi, The Killers in 2005). I tried to make sure there weren’t any swears, but I may have missed a few. I created the playlist in Spotify, so you can listen to it on your computer or your phone if you have the Spotify app. Kind of nifty! Just click anywhere on the playlist below and it will take you to Spotify so you can save the list.

I’m ALWAYS looking for fun new music, so I want to know what you like to listen to while you’re breaking a sweat!

Also, if you haven’t pre-ordered your copy of our new book yet, right now is a great time! April 7 is right around the corner!

Questions & Reviews

  1. No offense to your list but those songs don’t do it for me except “Uptown Funk,” which is my JAM!!! I usually work out to songs with a stronger pop/hip hop beat like “Run the World” by Beyonce, “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson, “Break Your Neck” by Busta Rhymes, “Lose Yourself” by Eminem, “Imma Be” by Black Eyed Peas, “Jealous” by Nick Jonas, “Candyman” by Christina Aguilera, “Heartbeat Song” by Kelly, “Masterpiece” by Jessie J{Some of these you may want to download the edited version for, haha}…I’m guessing you may not like my list since it’s really the opposite of yours 🙂 Ha!

  2. I’m having a hard time getting the link to qork. My browser tells me it’s no longer available. I’m pretty sure it’s user error 😉 any suggestions?

  3. Can’t wait for the cookbook! I also like to workout with I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas, and some Flo Rida like Jump and Right Round but those may have swears. Fusion bellydance music can be great for a workout too, if you find the upbeat stuff.

  4. I have burned a lot of calories to Fighter by Christina Aguilera. It’s great because I can turn my anger into calorie burn!

  5. Thank you! I needed a new list so bad! Lately though, I have been listening to the podcast “Serial”. It is like 12 episodes of a true murder mystery–it’s not gruesome but it does have some language. My workouts go by in a flash because I get so engrossed in it! I think it is free on i-tunes and I keep going to the gym to work out a lot lately so I can see what happens next. 🙂

  6. I’m also new to spotify. It won’t play any of the Taylor Swift songs. Do you know why? I love so many of these songs by the way.

    1. Okay. So I noticed that earlier today–the Taylor Swift songs play on my computer, but not on my phone. I did some digging and apparently T-Swift pulled her songs from streaming on Spotify. I’m not sure if they play on my computer because I made the list there or if it can somehow recognize that I own them or if it’s just a glitch, but it’s weird!! I’m kind of having an OCD-ish existential crisis about whether or not I should replace those songs, hahaha!

  7. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about your new cookbook!!! Thank you!

  8. I’m on spotify but I’m a little new. I searched for your playlist name and it didn’t come up – is it public? If so how do you find it?

    1. Hi, Sarah! Just click on the playlist above and it should take you right to it! Hope that helps!

  9. I typed the name of your playlist in Spotify but nothing came up. Am I missing something?

  13. Great List … I have about half of these on my playlist for workouts too!! Looks like I need to check out the rest of your songs. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  14. My workout music is different, because I am an Irish dancer. I listen to a lot of reels, slip jigs, double jigs, and hornpipes.

    1. Hi Natalie-
I love reels and jigs!! Who are some of your favorite artists? I’m always looking for new stuff. TY!

  15. I love working out to music with a good beat! Some of my favorites are Holiday by Vampire Weekend, Harlem by New Politics, Middle Management by Bishop Allen, She’s a Rebel by Green Day.
