Sometimes the best recipes are the most simple ones. I’ve been making a 3-ingredient salad dressing lately that has been rocking my world! Those of you stocked up on our Bacon Olive Oil have been asking for recipes, so here’s one of my favorite ways to use it.
You only need 3 simple ingredients: Our Bacon Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar, and 100% Pure Maple Syrup.
Because this dressing uses only three ingredients, it’s important that they be high quality. If you make this same dressing with generic cider vinegar and Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup, it will NOT be the same. Trust me and use the good stuff here. Bragg brand apple cider vinegar is raw and unfiltered and the taste (and health benefits) are unparalleled. If you don’t see it near the other vinegars in the grocery store, look for it in the health foods section. I’ve found that’s often where it is in the stores where I shop.
I have a Jar Salad that goes with this dressing (I’ll share it in an upcoming post) so I almost always just whisk up a single serving for myself, but you can easily shake up a larger batch for a family sized salad. It’s perfect on this Candied Walnut Salad, or our Pear and Blue Cheese Salad. I love it on something like spinach with crumbled bacon, a tangy cheese, toasted nuts, and something sweet like dried cranberries or diced apples.
Did you notice that adorable little heart-whisk? It’s the perfect size for mixing up little bowls of dressings or marinades. It’s one of the fun new things coming to our Shop THIS week! Wednesday we’ll show you more, along with a discount code (so you can grab some Bacon Olive Oil, too) but here’s a little peek of theses cute whisks and a few of our other new goodies. They are the perfect size to tie on a bottle of flavored Olive Oil and make the cutest gifts!
We are also launching our brand new gift sets which I can’t stop staring at. These beautifully letter-pressed boxes feature an adorable heart cut-out and even a surprise hidden inside. They are SO cute. You can fill it with any 2 flavors of your favorite oil and it’s ready for gift giving!
We’ll also have tea towels, like this OBB Exclusive design, which is one of our most favorite quotes!
All of that will be hitting The Shop on Wednesday, and we’ll post a Mother’s Day discount code and a few other surprises so you can do your shopping online and be all ready! So stay tuned for that!
In the mean time, good heavens- make this dressing. It’s amazing.
Recipe by Our Best Bites
1 part Bacon Olive Oil
1 part 100% Pure Maple Syrup
1/2 part Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar (up to 1 part depending on taste)
kosher salt and pepper to taste
Whisk all ingredients together and toss over salad. Since olive oil coagulates when refrigerated, it’s best to make this dressing fresh. If you store it refrigerated, just place the jar in warm water to bring back to room temp before using again.
Questions & Reviews
I made this tonight and put it on a salad with chicken, strawberries, blueberries, feta and chopped pistachios. SO YUMMY! Even my kids ate the salad, and they usually don’t eat salad unless it has ranch. I used a rotisserie chicken and had a loaf of crusty bread and had dinner on the table in 15 minutes. This will be used over and over at my house.
I made this with regular olive oil. It is very good! Just thought I’d let anyone”on the fence” know.
I am kind of a “follow-a-recipe-exactly” person and I would like to know how much is “one part” when you are making it for one salad jar. I am giving it to neighbors and I don’t want to give them too little but I also don’t want to give out all my bacon oil, if you know what I mean
Um, it seems like the recipe itself is missing.
Lol, that’s super weird- it was there last night when I published the post! I’ve added it again!
I’m excited to try this! But am I missing something? I don’t see the actual recipe??
Yes It is Amazing!! And a little bit goes a long way … I’ve been making it since you posted on instagram and I’m not really a bacon lover, but this dressing on a spinach salad with just sliced grape tomatoes and and mushrooms works magic as a side salad for so many things. yum yum!!
So true that sometimes the best recipes are the simplest ones. And we go through so much salad dressing! And there’s something about that bacon and maple combo that is kind of like peanut butter and jelly, they just go together.
