Do you ever have those days where you feel like the universe is conspiring against you? Getting today’s post ready was painful and it was not happening. So…change of plans.
If you’ve just joined us in the last few months, about 2 years ago, we wrote a book.
And people liked it! Like…it became a national bestseller! So we wrote another one…
And that one became a national bestseller. Which was awesome.
Some other awesome things about our books?
-There is a picture for every recipe.
-It has a spiral binding on the inside so you can lay it flat while you’re cooking, but the spine is printed with the title, so you can find it when you need to.
-It has this adorable bookmark with a conversion chart on it.-Both books have a “rollover index” where you can look up recipes by ingredient. So if you buy a whole quart of buttermilk or a bunch of cilantro and you’re looking for a way to use them up, we’re your girls.
So since things were not going my way today, I’m having a bowl of ice cream and giving away 3 books to 3 lucky friends!
Here’s the deal:
-To enter, leave a comment on this post telling us your favorite season, holiday, or tradition.

-The winners will get to choose either Our Best Bites: Mormon Moms in the Kitchen or Savoring the Seasons with Our Best Bites.

Ready? Set? Go! I’m gonna go eat some ice cream and lick my sad corrupted memory card wounds…
My favorite season is Fall. I love the changing colors, the cool air, fall sports, and the excitement of getting ready for the holidays. It also helps that my birthday is in the fall. 🙂
On New Year’s day we go out and eat breakfast with the kids, which usually consists of happy face pancakes with plenty of sugary goodness that really isn’t the best for them and hot chocolate. 🙂
Fall/Spring – I can’t ever decide! Really, just sweatshirt and flip flop weather. The precious few weeks of the year (where I live, at least!) when you can wear both at the same time. The best!
Would love your cook book! My favorite recipes are your creamy chicken taquitos – it is one of my “go to” recipes when I have company over (because it always turns out great) oh! and the ice limeade drink is super good too. I made a ginormous batch of this and froze the rest in a gallon baggie- whenever it sounds like it would be a good addition to a meal I hatck off a chuck and throw it into my blender and serve with dinner.
My favorite holiday (hands down) Christmas! The music, the family and friends get together, the decorating, the food and all traditions that go long with it:)
I love Christmas and the cool chocolate/peppermint flavors and Fall with it’s warm cozy flavors that just go with falling leaves and apples. I totally cook for Seasons.
I have wanted your books for a long time! I love you guys and would love to win!
My mom, the granddaughters, and I making cookies and Christmas candy. Then delivering it to the neighbors in pretty packages.
My favorite season is Summer! I love have a good old BBQ with family and friends!
My favorite season is Spring! I love hearing the birds sing again in the morning and watching the Earth come back to life again. I have your first cook book and use it all the time. (It looks pretty gross, I’ve spilled on it a lot.) Howevever, my husband hasn’t picked up on my hints for the second. I would love to have that one!
I love all holidays. We started a tradition with St. Patricks’ day where I put together a little ‘treasure’ and my husband makes up a scavenger hunt with clues from a ‘leprechan’. My two boys really look forward to finding the clues and following them to find the treasure every year
I love the fall; the weather, the smells and the anticipation of the holidays!
Fall! Cinnamon, apples, pumpkins, holiday baking….and cool weather.
I love Spring!
When everything’s coming back to life and the flowers start blooming again.
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, and it seems so far away right now, on the whole other side of the year! Really, I like them all, though. Every holiday is wonderful and just another reason to celebrate life.
My favorite season is summer!
I love baking challah with my kids. We don’t do it every week but when we have time, it’s a lovely tradition I learned from my mom and grandmother and I love the chance to pass it on to my kids.
Spring is my favorite season. I love planting our garden.
Fall because I love the scents that come with it. Fireplaces (not that we get too much of that smell here in TX), cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, crisp air, and the holidays. I also love that it seems we all slow down a little bit…
I LOVE the 4th of July!! Partly because it’s in the summer, which is my favorite season 🙂
I would LOVE to have the original cookbook!! As for traditions, well, we have a lot of typical traditions, cookie and candy making, easter egg dying, etc. but the one that my kids love the BEST is on Christmas Eve, we always go out to eat at the Waffle House! They go spend time with their father while I do the Christmas Day prep stuff, then when they get home, we go eat. Sometimes it’s 7:00 PM, once it was as late as 10:30 – Waffle House is always open. Everybody can be silly and have a good time and there is no clean-up afterward! Not typicaly, but it works for us!
Oooo!! This is so exciting! Yay for contests!!
My favourite season to cook in is probably winter. Because I can use my oven and stove and not get really grumpy about it. And farm life slows down a little bit, so I can actually eat dinner with my hubby..AT HOME instead of on a tractor, in the field, with cattle, or on a combine ;)Soooo many reasons to love winter!
I love summer when the kids are home and we have lots of free time to be together!!
The Christmas season is my absolute favorite. Hot cocoa, caramel apples, twinkle lights! Most of all, the excuse to try all your yummy recipes and win all my neighbors and friends love by delivering goodie baskets! All the way through New Years where we have a family tradition of leaving our New Years resolutions for Father Time, and in its place, baby New Year brings each family member a new pair of shoes!
I love fall and being able to use all of the produce from our garden!
I love fall. I love the leaves and cool air. I also love to start baking again after the hot summer.
My favorite holiday for food and decor is Halloween. There are just so many fun things to do. I also love anything lemon or strawberry at the beginning of spring. It is always a welcome change to switch to the lighter side when the weather turns warmer.
I love fall! It’s the start of a string of wonderful holidays, the leaves are beautiful, the air is crisp, and it’s baking season–yay!
Our family gets to live in Colorado Springs, Colorado where each season has its’ own pleasures. But everyone who knows me knows that Fall is my most favorite time of year.
This may seem odd but I can not choose. Each season has both pros and cons. And I love certain aspects of all and I hate certain aspects. I do have to thank both you ladies for wonderful recipes. You should know that I work in school food service at the high school level and this week is National School Breakfast week. I have adjusted a few of the recipes I printed off to meet the federal guidelines and have been serving them at breakfast. There are three so far that they have asked to be made again. Strawberry Croissant French Toast, Chocolate Zucchini Bread, and the Fruit Pie. You have many many positive comments coming from the high schoolers. I NEED NEED NEED a copy of both for our kitchen at school. They will be put to very good use. 🙂
My favorite holiday is Christmas and my favorite season is fall. There are so many great recipes for things between September & December and I bet there are a ton in your book!
