Do you ever have those days where you feel like the universe is conspiring against you? Getting today’s post ready was painful and it was not happening. So…change of plans.
If you’ve just joined us in the last few months, about 2 years ago, we wrote a book.
And people liked it! Like…it became a national bestseller! So we wrote another one…
And that one became a national bestseller. Which was awesome.
Some other awesome things about our books?
-There is a picture for every recipe.
-It has a spiral binding on the inside so you can lay it flat while you’re cooking, but the spine is printed with the title, so you can find it when you need to.
-It has this adorable bookmark with a conversion chart on it.-Both books have a “rollover index” where you can look up recipes by ingredient. So if you buy a whole quart of buttermilk or a bunch of cilantro and you’re looking for a way to use them up, we’re your girls.
So since things were not going my way today, I’m having a bowl of ice cream and giving away 3 books to 3 lucky friends!
Here’s the deal:
-To enter, leave a comment on this post telling us your favorite season, holiday, or tradition.
-The giveaway runs from today, 3/6/13 until 3/13/13.
-We’ll pick 3 winners and notify them via the email address they use to enter the giveaway. Be sure to use an email address you check often and not the email address you use when you order something from Bath & Body Works because you know you’re going to get 10 advertisement emails a day.
-The winners will get to choose either Our Best Bites: Mormon Moms in the Kitchen or Savoring the Seasons with Our Best Bites.
–The winner must respond within 48 hours of when we send the notification email. If we don’t hear from you, we will select another winner.
-If you want to forgo the whole contest thing, you can purchase the books from Amazon, Deseret Book, Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart, and many other bookstores. If you are unable to find it, any bookstore should be happy to order it for you.
Ready? Set? Go! I’m gonna go eat some ice cream and lick my sad corrupted memory card wounds…
I love end of summer/fall- the garden is producing, the kids go back to school, the days are cooler, but you can still grill.
I love the traditions that are based around the Christmas season. I tend to hold on to the ones that I experienced as a child.
Spring and Easter. Love the newness and warmth of these times of beauty!
Easter Doughnuts!! Grandma always spent Holy Saturday with us girls in the kitchen making homemade yeast doughnuts (the whole day, because we made approximately 160 doughnuts every year for our LARGE family). Then one year, someone pointed out that we sat for hours awaiting “their rising” – just what you’re doing for Jesus on Holy Saturday! Made us all warm and gushy inside. Plus, they’re DELICIOUS!! Like Heaven on Earth ;-P (did it again :-D)
My favorite season has to be fall. The weather is cool and lots of good memories gathered around a fire or a big pot of soup.
My favorite season is definitely summer!
My favorite tradition was something my grandmother started years ago. Every Christmas she would bake thousands of cookies (She’d actually start in late summer and freeze them). These weren’t just any cookies but your famous CHRISTMAS LIZZIES. She would divide them into pretty Christmas tins and then begin giving them out as not only gifts but to the people in here church and community that she knew probably wouldn’t have a Christmas or just needed a little Christmas Cheer. Then tradition was brought to an end several years ago when you passed away. However, unknown to most everyone, Maw-Maw knew this time was coming and she had prepared for it. She baked some of thee lizzies and froze them. She then asked that they be served to everyone at the conclusion of her memorial service (In April) as one last taste of her wonderful lizzies. The Christmas after she passed, I did my best to carry on this tradition and using here recipe, baked as many as I could along with a few of my favorites, put them in tins and gave them to those that needed a little Cheer. Hopefully I did Maw-Maw justice and the tradition of Myrt’s Christmas Lizzies will continue to to spread cheer to as many as possible.
I love fall – the weather starts to cool and it’s the kickoff to the holiday season!
My favorite tradition is a Christmas tradition. Every year growing up on Christmas Eve, my family would act out the nativity story. Every year my dad was the donkey that Mary rides to Bethlehem. His costume entailed socks on his ears for donkey ears. And every year, when we were trying to get that donkey to go the right way to Bethlehem, he would go the wrong way and run us into the banister while we gleefully shrieked at the donkey that he was going the wrong way. It was a great tradition that I hope to carry on with my son, who is 20 months.
I love all seasons but summer best of all because you can eat outdoors!
I love the first cookbook; no wonder it was a bestseller! My favorite season is the summertime. I look forward to the warmth, swimming, BBQ’s, and family get togethers. Can’t get any better!
First off, I love you guys!!! I just discovered you a few months ago and I now visit your site daily, thank you so much for all the cooking inspiration! Second I LOVE fall! for many reasons, my bday is in October, Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I love the pretty leaves. 🙂
Summer. Grilling out surrounded by family and friends and the sound of kids laughing well into the night!
I love Winter! We live in Colorado and there is nothing I love more than a huge snowstorm and being stuck at home. I get lots of groceries in stock and cook, cook, cook! I have your cookbook from the library and I have renewed it three times.
My favorite season is fall 🙂
I hate days like that. Ice cream is most definitely in order when the universe decides to be a punk. My favorite season is Fall- I love it so very much. My favorite holiday is Christmas and I feel like you enjoy the magic of the holidays during fall. Christmas is pretty much a few days into winter and once it’s over- winter is pretty much just sucky.
My favorite season is Spring! The snow has melted, it’s warm enough for everyone to play outside, and I love seeing all of the new growth.
My husband and I were married on the first day of spring because I LOVE spring so much. Its all about new life, flowers blooming, and sun shining after a long winter. Oh ya, wait, theres that spring cleaning part I like to forget about. 🙂
I love fall and Halloween! We usually dress up as a family 🙂 The best was being The Incredibles!
My favorite tradition is baking gingerbread houses with my family at Christmas.
Easter! Hands down this is my family’s favorite holiday. The fresh start of spring, a new beginning, a coming together to celebrate the living Christ (we’re religious if you couldn’t guess). The same meal is always served, for generations. I made rolls with my mother and now I make them with my girls. I am game for adding a new dish to or two so am I excited to see your new cookbook, and it’s only a few weeks till Easter!
Spring! 🙂
I love summer! The weather, the BBQs, everything! I live in cache valley, so you know what I mean when I say I’m so so tired of the cold and the inversion 🙂
My favorite holiday is Christmas because it allows me to show my love for my children and give them the special time of the year where everything is magical.
Spring! Days getting longer, temperatures getting warmer, grass getting greener, flowers blooming. What’s not to love?!?!
We have a great tradition, On New Years day we receive a gift from the New Years baby.
Its a great way to start the year. The gift can be a game, clothing, candy or a toy. This tradition has been in our family for 4 generations now.
My favorite season is fall, though I am looking out the window right now thinking that spring would not be too shabby. Fall is my favorite because there are so many fun family traditions without the pressure of the Christmas season. Also, my birthday is in November. Best month ever.
My favorite tradition is probably the get-away / vacation my hubby and I try to take every year as our anniversary / b-day gifts to each other! Quality time together is more fun for us than just getting “stuff”!
I think you ladies are awesome and I would LOVE to win a cookbook!!! I am not a great cook and still trying to learn, so this would be awesome! Thanks!!
I love spring! Not the wet, cold spring, but the warm, sunny, colorful spring. Thanks for all the delicious recipes! I use your recipes almost daily!
