Fresh fruit, chia seeds, maple syrup, and a hint of orange come together in this simple, nourishing chia seed jam. Use as traditional jam, or swirled into yogurt or oatmeal or spread on pancakes, waffles and more.
2cupsFruit, fresh or frozenfrozen wild blueberries are my go-to
1tablespoonjuice from an orangeor sub lemon
1tablespoonpure maple syrupor sweetener of choice
2tablespoonschia seeds
Instructions
Add the frozen blueberries to a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally and mashing to your desired consistency, until the berries have released their juices and are simmering, about 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in the orange juice, maple syrup, and chia seeds.
Let sit for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chica seeds absorb the liquid and the mixture thickens. If needed, you can add more sweetener to taste.
Transfer to a covered container and refrigerate, The jam will continue to thicken as it chills. Feel free to add a little more orange juice or water to thin out consistency, if needed.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge and use within 5-7 days.
