Often for Halloween we give you easy ideas for quick dinners or fun sweets to entertain tired out trick-or-treaters, but honestly I haven’t really been thinking about any recipe ideas lately because I have the best friends and neighbors ever, and I’ve had hot home-cooked meals delivered to my door nearly daily since I’ve been home from the hospital. I can’t even tell you how grateful I am for that. If you ever have a chance to take a meal to a new Mom, do it. It’s been a while since I’ve had a baby and I forgot how much that helps when you’re trying to manage everything and recover from giving birth.
So instead of a recipe today, when I figure everyone is busy with Halloween festivities anyway, I thought I’d give a little update since so many of you have reached out via social media and offered your well wishes and inquired as to how I was doing (thank you!)
Last Monday my husband and I welcomed our 4th kiddo into the world.
It’s also our 4th boy, and my 4th c-section.
He weighed 8lbs 8oz, we named him Gavin, and I even think he’s adorable when he screams.
My three older boys are all about 2 years apart on the dot. Then we had a 4 1/2 year gap before having little Gavin. So it’s been a different experience this time around and one of my favorite things is having kids old enough to really be excited about having a new baby around. I shared this picture on Instagram when they were absolutely memorized the first time they all saw him. It was one of those moments as a Mom that just sticks to your heart forever.
I forgot how amazing little tiny people are. Everything about a newborn from their their fuzzy little heads to their tiny little toes make grown adults just sit and stare. Which is exactly what I’ve been doing for 10 days straight.
I’ll try to get cooking again soon, but in the mean time, if my recipes look super lame or super easy, just remember I’m busy snuggling this little guy because they don’t stay little for very long and it’s my last chance to savor it. I plan to spend the next 2 months lounging around my house in yoga pants and over-sized hoodies and after that we’re re-visiting this post for a little Phase 2. If anyone wants to join me- get ready!

Just another word of support from a fellow 35 yr old c-section delivering mom of 4 boys…you got this. Family is always first. And the blog will still be here. I don’t know what kind of help you have, but I wish I could come wash laundry for you or vacuum or whatever you need so you could savor those new baby breaths. He is so beautiful! Even my husband agrees and he never thinks babies are cute! My babies are now 22, 20, and 14. All girls!!! I miss the baby days! Congratulations!

So happy for you and your family! I know what you mean about forgetting. We have 6 kids, and the distance between the last two was 14 years so it was like a new experience. Enjoy every single minute, it’s good to take a break when you are recovering from major abdominal surgery and caring for a newborn as well as 3 other little guys. Keep the pics coming though, we love them!

Congrats! I also have 4 boys, two years apart! We did finally get a little girl 4 years after our last boy. In case you were wanting a little girl, don’t feel too bad. Boys are so much easier! Many days after many tears, doors slamming and drama, drama, drama; I ask myself, “Why did I want that little girl so bad!” I love her to death, but boys are definitely more rational and though it may not seem like it now, they are going to settle down and they don’t even climb on my cupboards anymore! (My youngest just graduated from high school last year) I do miss those days, though, believe it or not. Savor every second. Hug and kiss them as much as they’ll let you!

Welcome to the 4 Boy Club! I’m right there with you. Had 3 boys each about 2 years apart but waited 3 years for the LAST one. It’s so fun and difficult and wonderful. By the way, I think it’s impossible for you to post ‘super lame’ recipes. Your food is too good! Enjoy your sweet little baby boy!

He is sooo cute! Congrats! And yes, they grow out of that phase so, so fast and even though you try, it just seems impossible to soak it all in. (My 5th “newborn” is now almost 7 months! :What?! ) Luckily, they get even more cute and fun as they grow. Enjoy!!

I love this post! I am just over 5 weeks until I deliver my fourth, also a c-section, and also my last. My kids are 9,6, and 2-all boys and I’ll be joining you in your post-baby weight loss! I actually did I pretty well on the gain this time and have been meeting with a trainer twice per week still, but I was chubby to start with 😉 I’ll be looking to you for inspiration!
