Red, White, and Blue Patriotic Strawberries

Happy Fourth!  I’m sure most of you are out and about enjoying the holiday, but I wanted to leave one quick and easy idea for anyone checking in today!  I’ve made these patriotic berries before but had kind of forgotten about them until one of you lovely readers (thanks Karin!) posted a picture on our facebook page. We love our Facebook page and we love you readers!

If you need a quick idea for today’s festivities, this one is for you – quick and easy Patrioric Strawberries! You might already have everything you need!

Just melt some white chocolate (either baking chocolate, or chocolate chips works fine) or almond bark.  If you’re using white chocolate, add 1/2 tsp vegetable oil or shortening to every 1/2 cup diced chocolate or chips to make dipping easier.

Make sure your berries are dry and give them a dunk

Then dip in blue sprinkles or colored sugar

And there you go, cute as can be!

  1. I have the Layered Jell-O sitting in my fridge right now. My nine year old son opened the fridge this morning and said, “Wow look what Mom made! She’s the best mom ever.” He’s a big Jell-O fan and this colorful one made his day. Thanks for helping me be “the best mom ever”. Have a wonderful 4th of July.

  2. I am attempting to make these and it is not working. I follow the instructions exactly, but when I dip the white chocolate dipped strawberry into the blue sugar, the blue sugar pushes the white chocolate up and it bulges out. Do you have to let the white chocolate harden at all before dipping in the blue sugar?

    1. No, you don’t let it dry. Maybe you have a little too much white chocolate on there? I’d let excess drip off and then dip gently.

    When you find recipes and share them from elsewhere, do you site the sources?
    I was just looking at this today in the magazine and then saw it on your site.
    Very fun and very simple and very patriotically sweet!

    1. Yep, we absolutely cite the source of the recipes when they come from other places. This idea apparently was featured in Family Fun magazine (although I haven’t seen it- I don’t get that magazine), but they certainly did not invent the idea. I’ve been making these since I was a little kid, so who knows where the original idea came from. Obviously no one knows, or Family fun would have posted the source as well! I’ve noticed that Family Fun publishes a lot of fun little crafts and food items that have been around forever and just aren’t “claimed” because I often see things there that I’ve been making my whole life and I know others have too.

  4. I made this for 4th of the July and it was sooooo good! I left some strawberries without the chocolate and the blue sprinkles, just in case my grandparents didnt want them. There was no more Red, White N’ blue. Someone asked where are all the blue ones? haha! Yummy!

  5. Oh man! I wish I’d seen this yesterday! Oh well, it’s something to look forward to next year. We did however make the fruit pizza and oh my…..I wish I had leftovers! It was amazing!
